Christopher Gabro - Pollock
Pollock does a
good job at showing the important aspects of the painter, Jackson Pollock’s
life while also not shying away from his wrongdoings as an individual. It’s life story that stays true to the heart
as to who the individual was. The
important aspect of the film was to see how his art changed as he related to
others. At the beginning of the film
Pollock’s work are emblematic of the surrealist painters that came before
him. Pollock was fine in going on in his
style until he met Lee Krasner who ended up inspiring him not only as a painter
but as an individual as well. When
Krasner entered Pollock’s life he attempted to change his livings style and he
start to come into the world. His
communication with others lead to a broadening of his horizons as to what he
can do as an artist. His first art
showcase did not go as he wanted and when critics as such Clem Greenberg
slammed Pollock for lacking originality Pollock changed his style while
resonating the same messages as before through his art. Without becoming engaged in social activities
with other people, Pollock’s art style would have fallen prey to hashing and
repeating what he was doing before. But
once he began to see other perspectives, he took in the criticisms and showed
the world that his style is malleable but the meaning behind the work will always
stay there
